Take the Global Reading Challenge 2017

The Global Reading Challenge is a competition organized by Seattle Public Library, which each year selects 10 chapter books and provides sets of these books to each of the participating schools. Fourth and Fifth grade students from Seattle’s elementary schools are invited to participate and form teams at their schools. Working together, the teams arrange to read each of the 10 books, often reading them over and over to prepare themselves to answer questions about each one. Competitions are held between the teams at each school and the winning teams then compete against each other at the downtown branch of SPL.

Each year 49 Kimball students choose to participate in this fun competition. Besides reading some great books they also get a chance to work together and learn how to function as a team. We really appreciate this terrific opportunity to work with SPL and hope your student will choose to participate when they’re a ‘big kid’!
