Time for LunchOne of the most frequently voiced concerns from parents is that our students do not have sufficient time for lunch and recess. Based on feedback from parents, Kimball added 5 minutes to the school lunch time this year to give children more time to eat.

Kimball’s PTSA conducted lunchtime studies over the past two consecutive years and found that efficiencies could be improved with the help of additional lunchtime volunteers. Kimball hopes to partner with parents, family members, community members and the Blaine Memorial Community to bring regular volunteers in to assist with Kimball’s two lunch shifts and we would be grateful for your volunteer time and participation.

Kimball has two lunch shifts each day. Ideally, we’d like to have the same volunteers assist with both lunches so the time commitment is from 10:50-11:50 a.m. Monday through Friday. We are looking for 4 - 6 volunteers each day, Monday through Friday.

Principal Jim Buckwalter will meet with the volunteers to discuss the tasks and train volunteers. If you are able to volunteer one or more days consistently each week please contact Sarah Gist (

Volunteers will need to complete the SPS Volunteer form and submit the form, along with a copy of their photo ID, to the Kimball Office front desk. See below for links to the volunteer application in other languages.

Volunteers will also be required to watch a short video, also available online here.

If you have questions about the volunteer requirements or commitments, please contact Sarah Gist (
